Who is responsible for your facility? Facilities manager internal or external?

Time:

  • For context, this was a fairly solo project. However, it was my primary project for about 6 months. Not my only work, but my primary focus. I was able to spend 10 - 20 hours per work on this for about 6 months. This could be shared if you have multiple drupal people working on the project.

  • Library feedback: I also had a small group of people that provided feedback. This included our facilities manager and a person from the Teaching and Learning Division.

  • Gathering Data: The facilities manager helped gather and orgaize the data. This included about 20 hours of time, mostly on the front end.

  • Creating MAps and directions. This work was primarily done by a student employee, with oversight from me. This was about 200 hours of student time over the summer.

  • Student employees from other departments engaged with usability testing / research while it was slow at the info desk / circ desk / tutoring desk / studio desk.

  • 6 hours of student time to test accessibility.

  • Additional support needed for Phase 2: integration into the catalog.

Maintenance:

It’s important to think about how the site will be maintained over time.

While the site itself hasn’t required significant time since it went live, there have been changes to rooms that have needed to be updated. This requires ongoing support and communications from the people who maintain your spaces. In my case, this is the Facilities manager.
